Thiruppavai - Day 03

Thiruppavai - Day 03

Here Andal explains the good results when we follow the nombu

“When we follow this nombu by bathing early, singing the names of Narayanan who measured all the worlds with his Trivikrama avatharam, our country will flourish with timely and enough rains, with the result of which, the crops will grow well and the fish will swim merrily in the ponds filled with water. The bees will rest on the well bloomed flowers; the cow will fill the vessels with milk the moment her udder is touched to milk them.”

Here Andal portrays the richness and prosperity that will result on following the paavai nombu.

  1. In this verse Andal talks about 'Ongi ulagalandha' perumal. This avataram is special in two respects.Firstly there was no killing of any demon or wicked men.Secondly this manifestation of Maha vishnu as Vamana/Trivikrama is lofty or uttama considering the fact that the Lord downgraded himself as a yachaka even when MahaLakshmi is his consort but he thoughtfully covered her with deer skin on his chest when he went to Mahabali.I read in a book by one K.R.Krishnaswamy that Mahabali who was punished became really the beneficiary having become a benefactor to the God for a while.it was said in that book that we are lucky that Mahabali did not heed to the advice of his guru

  2. Excellent both Lakshmi and KParthasarathi Sir.
I am able to relate to the story of Mahabali - as everyone follows the life that has been chalked out to him by God himself.
