Thiruppavai - Day 04

Thiruppavai - Day 04

Here Andal prays for timely rains :

Oh, Rain God! Please do not hide anything. Please go into the sea, take all the water to the skies noisily, make clouds as dark as the supreme Lord who is the very reason for this world to exist, make lightning like the discus he is holding in his handsome broad shouldered arms, make thunder like the conch in his hands and make the rain flow like the arrow from his bow Saarngam so that this earth can flourish and we can bathe in this auspicious month of Margazhi!

  1. In this song invoking the rain god for the rains,Andal gives a glimpse of the primeval God at the time of deluge (pralaya) in her words ஊழி முதல்வன் போல் மைய் கறுத்து dark in colour and the only person at the time of deluge.
